BCE-002 Bow Cable Engine
Oceanteam Cable Solutions builds and owns a large pool of cable handling equipment including equipment such as bow cable engines and linear cable engines. The operating principles of a Bow Cable Engine (BCE) are similar to a Linear Cable Engine. However, the BCE is mainly used during cable loading (shore-vessel) and transpooling operations. The BCE is lifted by a crane and pulls the cable from the (temporary) storage facility, cable coil or turntable, and feeds the cable in the other direction. This electrically powered BCE is fitted with 2 hydraulic pumps in tandem (enclosed), of which one is a variable displacement closed loop pump and the other is a fixed displacement open loop pump. The pump is fully adjustable in constant tension mode due to a selector potential meter. The open loop pumps work through a pressure controlled system and delivers oil to a 4/2-way and 4/3-way valve block. As a result of this, the BCE has a compact shape and relatively low weight, which are both favourable for transport, lifting and operations.
