Track Tensioners

Our track tensioners control cable pay-out speed and tension during load-out, transport and lay operations, protecting the cable and maintaining safe bend radius throughout. Each unit is engineered in-house and available for rental individually or as part of a complete cable handling spread, built to DNV-ST-N001 and other applicable offshore standards.

How Track Tensioners Work

A track tensioner grips the cable between two rotating tracks, applying controlled friction to manage pay-out speed and tension as cable is loaded, transported or laid. This keeps the cable within its minimum bend radius and prevents sudden slack or overload, whether working alongside a cable carousel during storage and pay-out or a loading tower during transfer to vessel or shore.

Our Track Tensioner Fleet

Our current fleet ranges from 10 to 15 tonnes capacity, with each model engineered to interface consistently with the rest of our cable handling equipment.

Related Equipment

For higher-capacity projects, our fleet also includes bow cable engines, a linear cable engine and a mobile loading arm. Track tensioners are typically supplied alongside cable carousels for storage and pay-out, and loading towers or mobile loading arms for safe transfer to vessel or shore.
